At What Age Should You Stop Breastfeeding Your Child?

What is up with people breastfeeding their children until they are 8 years old? That is really scary to me. Has anyone done it or known someone who has? I really cannot comprehend it. Can someone explain when and how that became an option?

When Did You Choose To Wean Your Child From Breastfeeding And Why?

I just have this feeling, maybe my maternal instinct, that my daughter and I are done breastfeeding. She is 9 months old. She is so much more happy and content after a bottle, and I’ve got to admit that I’m getting tired of it (breastfeeding). I don’t love my daughter any less, I just feel like this is over. Is it bad to feel this way? Did anybody else stop because they wanted to and not because they had to?

What Percentage Of Moms Are Still Breastfeeding When The Child Is 1 Year Old?

I always get props for breastfeeding my daughter for 21 months, and for still going with my son who is 11 months old. As I see it, if you stay at home, and if you don’t do drugs or have HIV, there’s no excuse for not going a year. (And before I had kids I thought breastfeeding was abhorrent and swore I would never do it!) I’m just wondering, since the AAP says you should go at least a year, how many moms are still doing it and when do they usually quit?

How Long After Breaking Your Child Of Breastfeeding Did It Take You To Become Pregnant?

My son was stubborn about breastfeeding, and I only recently broke him of it. He is almost 18 months now, and me and my husband are ready for number two.
We haven’t been using any form of birth control sense the birth of our son, however the breastfeeding seems to have prevented any new pregnancy’s.
Does anyone know how long it takes for breastfeeding to stop effecting fertility?
