At this young age it is a possibility that if you start giving him additional milk, especially if given by a bottle (which at this age is what you would most likely do) then he may decide to just stick with the bottle, you also run the risk of losing more of your milk. Are you sure you are not producing enough milk anymore – with my first baby at the 3 month mark I felt exactly the same way – I thought that I was not producing enough for my son anymore as he was finishing his feeds quicker, my breasts felt alot more softer even at the beginning of a feed and he started only sleeping for 45 minutes at a time. I talked to a few of the midwives at my work and they assured me as I had had heaps of milk in the first few weeks as long as I was feeding him about every three hours or so I would still have heaps of milk – the difference was that by three months the breasts have settled down so only make what the baby needs, also that at three months alot of babies go through a growth spurt so may need to be feed a bit more frequently for a few days and my son had started waking up earlier probably because of that but it turned into a habit for him. I ended up exclusively breastfeeding my son till about 10 months and didn’t start solids till about 5 1/2months.
I think that you probably need to be looking at his weight gain, his overall health, and how many wet nappies he has to see if you truly aren’t producing enough milk – if you don’t think he is gaining enough weight or doesn’t have enough wet nappies a day then you probably do need to either up your breastfeeds or top him up with formula – but just be aware that for some babies they may end up just going for the formula. All the best!

It is absurdly unlikely that you are not producing enough milk if you are nursing on demand…
And yes, your supply would actually go down if you started offering formula supplements.

your breasts should produce milk to the amount your baby is drinking. I started to feed my baby formula as she was a massive sucker and feeder at birth and my breast were horrible and incredibly sore. when i gave her half and half she didn’t suck as well on my nipple. so i had to express it to put it in a bottle.. then she just started to have the formula fully. but i guess everyone is different.. clinic nurses are fantastic with helping you with these situations. maybe putting hot towels on your breast will help you lactate. it did for me. hope this helps in some way
