We live outside of town and have well water that we drink without boiling. What really could happen if we don’t boil it before mixing up baby formula?

Boiling water for 2 solid minutes kills any live bacteria so it is safe to drink, and will not cause any intestinal problems.
It isn’t always nessisary, and personally I don’t think it is needed. Your baby will be fine off well water. Continue as you are doing.
EVEN IN A TOWN WATER SITUATATION (I SPEAK FROM OWN MISTAKES)IT CAN CAUSE DIARREOHA IN BUBS NOT TO METION ANYTHING ELSE FROM WELL WATER THE BUBS IMMUNE SYSTENM IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO COPE WILL ALL THAT WE ARE FINE CAUSE WE ARE ADULTS AND 50 KG AND UPWARDS HEAVIER I WOULD BOIL WELL WATER TO ATLEAST GET SOME OF THE GERMS OUT OF IT THEY ONLY WEIGH AROUNG 3KG WHEN BORN (ABOUT APPROX 8 POUND) THEIR BODYIES CANNOT HANDLE IT
As long as your water is clean, I’ve never heard of needing to boil it before mixing formula.
I would suggest not boiling, if there are contaminates such as lead, boiling may intensify them in the water. If you are concerned, you may want to purchase bottled water(although that is quite expensive). My daughter had bottled water for the first few months, then, i just started using tap water, she did fine, although i never gave her well water, i don’t suppose there would be too much of a difference. You may want to go to your local health department and ask for a water test, we do this about once a year. All you do is, let you water sit for about 8 hours(like over night), when you get up in the morning, let the water run for about 60 seconds, then fill up the contaner they provide for you and then, mail it or take it back to the health department. I hope this has put you at ease, at least a little, and congradulations on your new baby!
i never did and my peds doctor said i did not have to, why is right, quit, the baby needs the fluoride that is in the water
boiling the water is probably just to make sure it’s clear for baby’s bottle…
Generally you boil water to purify it. We use tap water for our bottles and the baby is growing up with the right amount of fingers, toes, eyes, etc. Your well water will likely have minerals and other goodies that could be good for the growth of your baby. In any event getting it tested might be a good idea, just to be safe. Babies have much weaker immune systems and something that might not bother you or me can make the baby very sick.
Well water has a lot more bacteria in it! It could make your child sick to it’s stomach, and may cause a bacterial infection! Adults are ok to drink it, but immune systems are better. An easy way to fix this problem is to buy water, or get one of those filters for your sink. good luck to ya!
Well water is not cared for like city water, you can get sick from it. You taking the chance yourself is bad, but to expose an infant??
