What Would Happen If I Had A Coke While Breastfeeding?

I’ve been relatively healthy since I’ve been breastfeeding but I miss so many different things such as coke. I’m craving a coke right now, is it safe to drink?

Certain foods and drinks have different affects on babies. When you were pregnant did you drink coke? You need to have things in moderation. If you are craving a coke have some. It should not do anything. I breastfed 3 kids. I was lucky and could have almost anything and not affect them. The only bad thing about coke and other soft drinks is the high sugar content. Unless it is diet and then you go into empty calories. I would say go for the one and slowly add it into your life again if you Truly need it. You can always enjoy the coke after the feeding and give it more time to break down in your body in between feedings.
I know many people who have had coke while breast feeding. The only side effect I saw was that a friend of mine had too much sugar while breast feeding, and then this sugar ended up giving the baby large pimples. It was very odd, but it was something to do with the sugar ( not very common, never seen anything like it before). Other than that it should be ok, but its best to stick to healthier options until you are done breast feeding.
Gee you are being healthy..LOL. I don’t think one can or glass of coke would do your baby any harm. I would stay away from diet drinks though as they’ve got chemicals that are bad for you. I am breastfeeding my baby and have soft drink, coffee, tea and sometimes an occasional glass of wine. I’m sure there’s more dangerous things out there than Coke (as long as you’re not talking about the drug)
Coke is safe to drink. Keep in mind it has caffeine, which can dehydrate you…so if you have a coke, follow it with a big glass of water.
The caffeine might have the oppurtunity to affect the breastmilk…but not in a way that would hurt the baby in any way. Some caffeinated drinks are fine once or twice a day.
Heck ya it’s safe! Stress is worse than sugar! And coke is better than coffee! So if it makes ya feel better go for it! And I always think about cows that eat nothing but grass…and we drink there milk! It’s good for us! Also taking a prenatal vitamin everyday is good for you and baby!
Coke is fine its mainly strong spicy foods that upset the baby.
You will discover what your baby can tolerate, when it is unsettled think back to what you’ve eaten or drank, if you suspect something try it again a few days later and if you get the same reaction then omit it from your diet!
i did it! just do it in moderation, remember everything you eat/drink goes to your baby through your milk supply. you will not be harmed nor will your baby if you drink a coke.
I think it should be ok, as long as you are sensible with your intake… What’s the difference if you have a whole bag of lollies? It’s not, I wouldn’t suggest drinking energy drinks and addictive things like that.
You can drink one while breastfeeding, everything in moderation. You might notice that your baby is slightly more awake than usual, but why dont you just drink caffeine free diet coke? taste the same and wont stimulate your baby.
Yes, it is safe to drink a soda. Just do not let it replace the water your body needs while breastfeeding.
The baby will sleep hard. Caffeine has the opposite effect on people with ADD/ADHD and children under 5. I used to slip my daughter 1/2 cup of Coke when she had insomnia when she was 18 months and 3 years old. As long as you do it in moderation, and maintain a relatively healthy diet, your baby should not be harmed. Plus, most of the caffeine and suger will be filtered through your blood before it gets into your breast milk.
