I am losing to much wieght from breastfeeding and I eat like a horse, but my son does not want anything but my boob. Any ideas?

Wean him off one feed at a time. Give him other food and drink instead of offering him the breast. What are his favourite foods? Leave the morning and evening feed till last. A doctor might be able to give you medication to reduce the amount of milk you make, and your son will have no choice but to have something else. Get your partner, or a friend to mind him for a few hours at a time when he would normally want feeding. Set him up with lots of options. My babies always loved mashed pumpkin or mashed banana, and cooked, pureed eating apples. Another thing that might work for you is if you make some of the feeds shorter and offer other food afterwards. If you use commercial baby food, make sure you taste them, some of them are not very nice. You have the right to say no. Best Wishes.
I weened my son at 8 1/2 months1 fed at a time. He was still having four feeds a day and each week i would cut out one . So it took a month but i didn’t have any issues at all with it.
damn i wish i had that problem! just kidding. i’d check with your doctor first. why are you loosing weight? breast feeding does burn calories, but not that much. especially if your son is nine months, i’d think you’re not breast feeding every two hours. weight loss could be a serious problem like thyroid so go to your doctor. while your there tell them you plan on stopping the breastfeeding and they can help you out.
weening is the easiest for everyone when you do it gradually check out this link.
Yep, I agree, see the doctor about it first. I weaned my dd at 9 months very gradually, starting with the middle of the day feeds and then morning feed, and finally the evening feed. It took about a month all up. She practically weaned herself because at that age she was so distracted looking around that I just offered a bottle on the other side of her (once she was used to the taste of formula) while breastfeeding. She ended up preferring the bottle so she could hold it and look around! I was also giving her baby food (both homemade & bought) about an hour after her milk feed. If I tried to feed her too soon, she would either refuse or throw up from being too full.
I got her to accept a bottle in the first place by expressing breastmilk into a bottle and letting it drip into her mouth so she knew yummy breastmilk could come from a silicone teat as well. Once she got the hang of bottles, then I introduced the formula – picked one brand and stuck with it, because it takes them a fair few tries before they get used to it and like it – like any food, I guess.
At this age, your son should be eating solids already.
So just increase the amount of solids he eats and cut down on the feeds.
Also, World Health Organisation (WHO) recommend that mums breastfeed babies till they’re around 2 years old.
If you’re losing too much weight, probably good idea to go for a check up to make sure there isn’t another reason for it.
