What is the average age for children to stop breastfeeding (regularly, and at all) worldwide? How accurate are the statistics available? Thanks!

The average age of weaning is 4.2 years. Extended breastfeeding is a lot more common overseas.
The WHO and UNICEF both recommend breastfeeding until at least 2 or beyond.
i would check out this website, this group is around the world, one of the largest brestfeeding groups in the world. http://www.llli.org/, most places even have a group to join
the answer varies by mother. my son stopped at 13 mos -he never took a bottle. my daughter stopped at 7.5 mos and she was on a bottle as well as breast for 6.5 of those months.
The world health organization (WHO) would be a great site to look at. This site is very much into breastfeeding and setting goals for nations to achieve.
