I have been told by my Physician not to use any diet products while breastfeeding. I do exercise and this has been helping me. I do not eat after 6pm. I guess my question is more like does this affect the baby if I do not eat after 6pm? I have found that my milk supply is less now. Baby is 8 months.

Weight Watchers has a very good program, with modificatins for nursing mothers. It’s really helped me get back to my pre-pregnancy weight while nursing both my children.
Don’t cut back on food intake because your supply will diminish. Take your baby out for walks in the morning; I did that with my daughter for the first few months. I didn’t diet at all and just breastfeeding alone (with the walking) I lost 54 ponds in 10 months. I actually weigh 25 lbs less than before I even got pregnant. Most breastfeeding mothers burn between 200-500 calories a day just breastfeeding, so that’s a diet in itself. It’s good for your baby and you!
I think it would depend on how long it is that you are going after 6 with no food. you didn’t say when you go to bed or when you have breakfast. you need to eat to keep your energy up to keep your supply up.
your milk supply may be less if your baby has started solids or is also drinking anything other than your breastmilk.
its a good idea to eat after 6pm because your baby is getting older and moves around more and he will want more milk than usual
As your doctor said, you should not be taking weight reducing products while nursing. They are not well regulated. You can not be sure what is being passed on to the baby in your milk.
Many women do loose weight naturally while breastfeeding. Everyone is different.
Proper diet and exercise is the best way to control your weight. Be sure that you are taking plenty of fluids to help maintain your milk supply.
