Is There A Medication To Start Up Your Period While Breastfeeding?

I have been breastfeeding exclusively for almost 17 months now and my daughter LOVES it. She shows no sign of giving it up anytime soon. I still haven’t gotten my period back. My husband and I would love to start trying for another baby soon (we are both in our 30′s). Is there something I can take to make my period start again?

Wow! I can’t believe that you haven’t had your period. I think you need to see a doctor straight away. According to a family member who is a OBGYN, your period should return around 40 weeks after giving birth even when breastfeeding.
I got my period 9.5 months after giving birth when my son was nursing up to 6 times per day (but not overnight at all) and it was the heaviest I have ever experienced. I am still breastfeeding and my cycles are more regular than they have ever been in my life.
How often does your daughter breastfeed? Try to get her down to once or twice a day (morning and bedtime). Try to go through the whole night without nursing. I think taking progesterone will bring on your period, but you’ll need a prescription for that. Good luck!

I really don’t know if it will work postpartum or not, but parsley tea has worked for me to bring on my period when it’s delayed because of an anovulatory cycle. You just take fresh parsley, boil in water to make a tea, strain the parsley out and drink. It can’t hurt trying.
