It should take care of itself with in a few days. It's perfectly safe to do both, in fact lots of moms formula feed during the day and nurse in the morning and nights for bonding time! You may have switched him to formula to quick or a larger amount than is body adjusted to. He will adjust in time. it's just something different going into his body.
