Is Generic Baby Formula As Good As Name Brand?

I have baby #2 on the way. I used Similac for baby #1 but I now see that Babies R US has it’s own brand of formula and it’s much cheaper. Should i stick with Similac or is the off-brand ok to use?

the FDA regulates baby formula and they all have to meet certain criteria, but sometimes the generic formulas will not have things like DHA and other added ingredients as the national brands.
You can try it. But don’t buy a ton of it before the baby is born. Just because one baby could tolerate Similac doesn’t mean this one could. He might need gentle ease formula or anything. All babies are different. Ask your pediatrician or hospital staff their recommendation on formula. I don’t know much about off brand formula. Ask the hospital staff.
Generic is just fine. All formula has certain requirements and must contain the right levels of vitamins and nutrients. There are strict laws as to what can and cannot go in infant formula. So generic is just fine! We used Target brand when my breastfed daughter was supplementing, and experienced no problems.
What you really need to check when using “off-brands” or store brands is that it has the same nutrional value as the most expensive. Yeah sounds like a pain, I do that with all the “pharmacy related” stuff, in order to make sure it meets the guidelines of what needs to be treated, and if it’s just as good as the expensive stuff why not.
We use the Target brand formula at my son’s doctor’s recommendation. I actually think it is better because it seems to mix up better. We love it and have been using it for 6.5 months. It only costs about $12 for a large can (25.75 oz)
Many of them are actually made in the same place as the brand names ones. As long as it agrees with baby then go ahead and use it they have the same ingredients in them.
I would check to make sure they have the same nutritional value but other then that it should be perfectly fine.

All infant formulas are regulated, so yes it’s the same thing, at least it’s required for them to meet the same guidelines.
the only thing differnent is the name on the packaging. Alot of off brands are made at the same places as the name brands so there is really no difference other then the price.
We started off with Similac and then switched to the Target brand. My daughter never noticed the difference and it is so much cheaper!
It has the exact same ingredients.
I believe its all regulated the same way
ITS ALL THE SAME!!!!
