If You Stopped Breastfeeding 3 Weeks Ago Can You Start Up Again Or Is Your Milk Gone?

I was breastfeeding my newborn but it was so painful I stopped. Now I would like to start up again, and I tried it, but I don’t think anything came out and there was no let down.
you can if you start to stimulate them again. Try pumping to get it started. You might want to call a lactation specialist and get some advice from them.
The female body is an amazing thing. You can initiate lactation simply by providing the sucking stimuli. A woman that has never had children can produce milk simply by suckling. It will never reach the same quantities as a hormone induced let down, but it’s still possible. I watched a program on this on PBS, a woman had adopted a newborn and wanted to breastfeed, so they have this little contraption that she wears around her shoulders and ends with a little hose at her nipple and it supplements the milk that she can produce with formula, so the baby gets the benefit of breastfeeding and all the nutrition it needs.
You should be able to with practice…try using a breast pump as well as letting the baby suckle…after a few days of doing this every few hours, you should get your milk back. If you are on birth control pills it may not. My breast milk dried up quickly after starting up my pills…and I wasn’t trying to wean.

Once you’re dried up, you’re dried up. I think its too late.
