There are CNAs who work in the maternity unit of my local hospital. They don’t work in actual labor & delivery though. They help take care of Mom after the baby is born. They check vitals, bring ice water, change bedsheets, bring clean towels, and will help with showers if needed. So you better be comfortable with seeing another woman naked. They are also typically the person who responds if a patient needs help getting out of bed.

I worked as a CNA for a while. I didn’t work with the well babies all the time. I worked in the rehab unit most of the time. However occasionally when I wanted extra hours I would call in on my days off and ask to be put at the women’s hospital. And most of the time that is where I ended up. It was alot of fun. I didn’t do vitals on the babies. All they wanted me to do was change them and help feed and rock them. Which was fine with me. The nurses, as you can imagine, are very possesive of their little patients.

in some hospital facilities, yes. it does just depend on the particular hospital’s policy..good luck to you.

Just doing the vitals I think. But it may vary from state to state, too.
