I have been only breastfeeding my daughter (she is now just over 2 weeks old) and I have not bottle fed her because I do not have a breast pump but I would like to switch to formula. Ive tried feeding her formula but she gets very upset and wont take it. Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can switch?

Start out with a 1/2 formula 1/2 breast milk bottle. Then after a couple days of that, switch to 1/3 breast milk and 2/3 formula. Then on the 7th day, give her only formula.
You have to slowly reduce the breast milk until it’s eliminated all together.

You just have to keep trying. Why do you want to stop breastfeeding so soon? Remember that formula tastes very bitter in comparison to breast milk. Try hand expressing an ounce and mix that with the formula. Also, what bottles are you using? Try Breast FLow. They are the closest to the breast. Once she’s taking those fine you could probably use any bottle. I used those first with my son when he was 3 weeks just to see if he would, he took them no problem. make sure you are using a very slow flow nipple too.

Try getting someone else to give it to her. She might not take it from you because she can smell your milk and that’s not what you’re giving her. Babies do actually know the difference. Before you switch though, you can rent breast pumps or borrow them from the WIC office if you qualify for WIC. Evenflo makes a pretty good one and it’s under $40 at most stores & online.

Why would you want to give your child inferior food when you have the BEST you can give?? If you are going to be away from her try to get a breastpump from WIC or buy one some LC will give them away for free like WIC does. Look into what youa re actually doing by swicthing to formula

breast feed as usual, but feed her few mins less on the breast then follow up with the formula. then, go a few more mins less on the breast and give her the bottle after. by the time shes off the boob, she should be used to the formula! hope this helps!

To be honest I would really like to know why you are switching but it is your personal matter…
Answer is – gradually by offering formula with the breastfeed, after breastfeed and by mixing the two milks
It should not take more than a week or two
    Best of luck

I breast feed twice a day for three months
I used the formal after about 2 months
    One bottle at a time
Tried one bottle if she takes it, then add one
If she does not, keep trying until she does
My daughter took fast to the bottle
