I am currently breastfeeding my 1 year old and my husband and i are ready to start trying for our second chid. I havent had a period yet, and i know that i can get pregnant without having my period, but i am wondering if there is anyway to speed up the process. I don’t want to have a period, but i am going crazy not knowing when it is possible to conceive. Any advice?

I’d like to know too! I’m ttc but I’m getting my period. I did actually conceive during my third cycle after I got my period back (when my son was 14 months old). My bet is that your cycle should be returning shortly. Most women don’t go much longer than a year.
You could buy a bunch of cheap ovulation detection strips off the internet. I bought 40 for like 5 dollars from Amazon. That way you could at least tell if you’re ovulating. Otherwise, you could just monitor your cervical position and cervical mucous and see if you’re getting the EWCM. That occurs with the surge of estrogen around ovulation and is directly related to ovulation.

Unfortunately, there isnt’ a whole lot you can do to speed up the process. All women are different when it comes to returning fertility. A few women start ovulating again within a couple of months. Others dont’ start up again until baby is fully weaned. And most fall somewhere in between.
If you aren’t ready to wean your baby, you could try cutting back some and see if it helps jump start the process. If it doesn’t … you’ll just have to be patient.
(Just to clarify — if you aren’t having periods you AREN’T ovulating. Unless you conceive at your first ovulation [certainly possible but not statistically the most likely scenario], you will start having periods again before you conceive again.)

You have about a 50/50 chance of ovulating *before* you get your first period. You may want to look into some sort of fertility monitoring (search “natural family planning” online) so you’ll be able to tell when your body is getting ready to ovulate.
Really, the only way to speed things up is to cut back on how frequently you nurse, and only *you* and your baby can decide when it’s time to do that.
    Good luck!

Your child should be off the boob by now..but I guess its a personal choice…by one year they are ready for regular milk by the way! anyway if you REALLY want a baby you are going to have to stop breast feeding, some women do get their cycle back while breast feeding, others do not. its obvious to me that if you haven’t yet you most likely won’t.
