why are you not nursing…you should contact your pediatrician…you could pump your breast milk into the bottle and feed the baby every 2 hrs…

I’m not sure why you are switching to formula if your baby is allergic to soy and milk. Most formulas are cows milk based and most of the rest are soy based. Non-cow’s milk based formulas are the least like mother’s milk, and very far from breast milk. You can continue to nurse, you will just have to eliminate your baby’s allergens from your diet. It is so worth it!
If you do continue to formula feed, you should feed him on cue just as you would if you were nursing. Formula does not have more calories and it is not more filling, as some others have said, it just takes longer to digest and leaves the stomach feeling full longer, meaning less actual calories and nutrients are absorbed.

Im sure she is switching because if she still BF she would have to do a elimintation diet meaning she to has to cut out all dairy and soy. Im assuming here that baby has a milk/soy protein allergy.. What formula are you switching to? Here is a link from similac.com that gives a guide for feeding.Use the link then scroll to the bottom of the page. My son has mpsi (milk/soy protein intolerance) and he is 7 months and feeds 6 oz every 3.5 -4 hours. He also has severe reflux so he cant feed more than 6 sometimes 5 oz at a time.

Formula is a bit more filling than breastmilk. So I would try every 3 hours unless your baby gets hungry before that.
He’ll be able to tell you when he’s hungry. If he starts getting fussy, for no aparent reason, or starts sucking on his fists.

i say it should be the same as beastfeeding, feed on demand, but the thing with formula its thicker and it will fill them more than breatfeeding because breast milk is more watery, so just listen to your baby and feed him when hes hungry

Switch back to breastfeeding its the best way especially if your child has allergies to soy and milk and its 10 times cheaper
But to answer your question 3/4 hours but you should be able to tell when the baby is hungry by the fussing

I found that formula could be used about every four hours. Formula tends to be have a higher caloric value than milk. But every baby is different and I’m sure he/she will let you know if they are hungry.
