How Long After You Quit Breastfeeding Did It Take For You To Have Your First Cycle?

I quit breastfeeding 2 months ago. Still have not had a period, but I have had mild cramping. Should I have had a period by now?
It’s different for different people, even different after each child for some. Your body has to reach a certain level of estrogen production before you will release an egg. That’s what makes any cycle a real “period” is the release of an egg. Otherwise it’s not really a period but an anovulatory cycle. You may have some of these while your body tries to reach a high enough estrogen peak to cause the release of another egg. Typically anovulatory cycles are farther apart than 5 weeks. Once you begin having periods as close or closer than 5 weeks you can almost be sure you are ovulating again – and thereby having real cycles. Realize too, though, that you can become pregnant before having a period because ovulation does occur before bleeding in a cycle. If I were you I’d take a pg test at least every 3 weeks until I had a real, less than 5 week cycle and knew for sure just when I was ovulating.

I breastfed my son till he was 15 months, no period for 2 months, got very very mild (smear) period and then got pregnant again with my daughter – ha fertile turtle
Breastfed my daughter for 14 months and got period one week after I stopped. BAD periodsss (3 times in one month!). My OB said it’s normal, my body is build-up from the accumulation of almost periodless in 4 years.
I wish I don’t have my period, life was better without them.

it’s different for each woman I actually started while i was breastfeeding with my 1st after 4 months and I didn’t supplement so not sure what happened there. Some start right away but it could take some time. It will return soon though.
yes every woman is def. so different. i got my period when my baby was a few months old. she is now almost 9 months and i’m still breastfeeding!
