How Long After Breastfeeding Before Your Cycle Is *normal* Again?

I’ve always had a very regular 28 day cycle. I stopped breastfeeding/ pumping just over a month ago and got my period the same day. It’s been 35 days since and the pregnancy test says negative. How long did it take after breastfeeding before your cycle was normal again?
Thanks!!

It took about 8 weeks for mine to go back to normal. I took a pregnancy test too and had a FALSE positive!

It can take forever! AND your previous cycle can be totally thrown off by having a baby! Before my first I had rather irregular periods and would skip a month here and there, after my second was born and weaned, they were like clockwork every 30 days (we conceived #2 while nursing, never had a period in between).
Also any sort of hormonal birth control can mess things up too, especially after childbirth and nursing. I would say to continue to use regular birth control, and only time will make things regular again!

I have been nursing for 24 months…ya cringe…lol…but mine came back at 11 months, I stopped pumping and really nursing around 18 months, but he still nurses at night before bed so it’s more of a comfort thing than a nourishment thing…that being said, hormonally, I think I’m more or less back were we started before nursing…because I feel more sane and less hormonal. And I’ve decided that I’m never going back to hormonal birth control…so I’m not on anything to help regulate me.
In any case…I’ve had my period back for over a year now…and it’s still not “normal”.
It came back with a vengeance after the baby…painful, heavy, crampy, erratic…just awful. In the last few months, it has become more predictable…but only slightly less horrendous. I feel like I’m 13 again.
So everyone is different, and some women self regulate more quickly than others…but if my situation is any indication…”normal” may be further away than you think..lol.

You mean after you wean the kids its supposed to return to normal. Well hell ive been done breatfeeding for almost 4 yrs now and its never been normal..lol Now what?
Sorry im feeling spunky today and just couldnt resist, from what I was told with both deliverys it could take a few cycles to get back to normal. If at 6 months after your dried up and its still funky talk to your OB

There’s no answer. Some women have regular periods while breastfeeding (like me and I follow all the rules for ecological breastfeeding, and it sucks) and some take a few months after weaning.
